HANDS ON GEOGRAPHY









Students learn about maps and globes in this "hands on"  introduction  to the world and it's
physical features.  The use of an
over sized map  approximately  15  x  25 feet  and  3 - D
manipulative's  enhance the excitement and learning.
This program can be presented to  
many grade levels and aligns to many areas of
both social studies and science curriculum.   

Perfect as an introduction at the beginning of the school year, as well as a beneficial
review throughout the year.  







Kindergarten - Grade Two:
  • Introduction to Maps and Globes
  • Using the map key
  • Basic introduction to the earth's physical features and habitats
  • Exploration of animal habitats through storytelling

Grade Three:
  • Review of  Maps and Globes
  • Unlocking the Map with a Key
  • Introduction to the New England Region
  • Massachusetts Regions : including physical features, cultural and economic features




Grade Four  and Five:
  • Map Skills  - ( either introduction or review )
  • Physical features of the earth - a " hands on " exploration
  • Introduction to the continent of North America and the countries of Canada and
    Mexico
  • United States Regions including physical features i.e.mountains, rivers, national
    parks, etc.
  • cultural features i.e.major cities, products and national landmarks.  

















Grade Six:

For grade six we expand the general presentation to focus on world geography.
